I spent two decades inside agencies watching good brands get buried.
Not by bad ideas. By too many of them. By strategy built to impress rather than to work. By decks thick enough to justify the fee and vague enough to avoid accountability. An industry that confused complexity with value and called it service.
Somewhere in those years I noticed what the buried brands had in common. The true thing about them, the specific, uncomfortable, worth-noticing thing, was almost always in the room at the start. It was in the founder's first rambling answer, in the aside they'd stopped mentioning because a consultant once told them it wasn't professional. And then a process arrived, and the process produced a deck, and the true thing didn't survive it.
I've been a developer, a strategist, and a designer, in that order, and the order matters.
I've written the code that had to make the strategy real. I've written the strategy that design was supposed to express. I've made the design that had to survive both. I know exactly where the truth gets lost, because I've stood on every side of the handoff watching it happen.
Love Strange exists so there is no handoff. The person who finds the evidence is the person who designs the response. One investigation, one mind, from the first question to the final artifact.
The method is Cultural Forensics: evidence first, verdict second, artifact last.
The forensic frame isn't decoration. It imposes discipline on a field that resists it. Evidence can be examined. A verdict can be held to. A recommendation can be walked back in the next meeting; a verdict is a braver deliverable, and braver deliverables make better work. Every case in the index runs on the same four phases, in the same order, every time. Nothing without a finding.
For most of my career, before this studio existed, I kept telling clients the same thing. It became a reflex, the sentence I'd say before the work started:
Love the process. Embrace the strange.
Love the process, because the finding never shows up on schedule, and the investigation deserves patience instead of a template. Embrace the strange, because the thing that makes a brand worth noticing is almost never the comfortable thing. It's the specific, odd, true thing everyone's been politely ignoring.
When it came time to name the studio, there was nothing to invent. The name had been in the room for twenty years. I just had to find it.
Love Strange is small by design, not by circumstance. A team of strategists and designers, working every case from the same evidence, with no departments to lose the truth between. The investigation, the verdict, and the final judgment run through one standard, mine, from the first question to the last artifact. The studio is sized for judgment, not throughput, and it protects its capacity accordingly.
